Thanks for all those who prayed towards, or attended or
contributed towards the fifth Raising the Bar preaching and leadership conference,
just outside Nairobi last month. It was our first time going residential and It
reaped rewards in fellowship and interaction and time to carry on discussions
in a relaxed way. At one point someone said, “If we start down this line we
could be here all day and all night” and we all burst out laughing because of
course we were going to be there all day and all night.
Personal highlights included the powerful expositions of
Zephaniah by Harrison and Fidel where we saw:
- the complete helplessness of humanity,
- judgment as de-creation,
- the Big Problem of the coming wrath of God, and so the Big Need being propitiation, and the Great Good News being the fact of that propitiation at the Cross,
- salvation is being sheltered under the wings of God,
- God is with and among his people and their only hope is to be taking refuge in him
- Christianity is a religion of future hope
- we have the greatest reason to rejoice of any people – in salvation and in the God who rejoices over us
If you missed the conference, why not come to the forthcoming RTB in Kisumu:
